Vernier calipers,
Shivering hands;
Measure the thickness
Of my hatred for her.

More measuring instruments,
Weighing scale queued up;
A heavy heart
Tempers with my BMI.

Doctor’s dictate,
Iron supplements.
I might need to cry
Another crimson river tonight.

Scout that dimple,
Look away in an instant;
The suns that were my eyes
Have become black holes with lust.

Teach my insects,
“Please, sleep during the day!”
Persuaded to do no harm,
They deny me sleep at night.

I just need to make
My room sound-proof,
And buy dark shades
For my classes.
