They told me that
My kind don’t fit.
A ghastly brand that survived
Years upon years.

We struggle to be counted
In the census of races.
There was a time when
They didn’t think we are human.

“Strong!”
Quite a convenient stereotype.
A word traders use when
They sell punching bags.

Other marginalised races
Race to step on us,
Desperate to be counted
In the special census.

Would you blame them?
Superiority, a sign of life?
Or is it just a symptom
Of the disease of penis stereotypes?

PS: I am told that there are ongoing xenophobic attacks against Africans in Delhi, India. Not the first time, of course. Those in power seemingly couldn’t care less.
